What We Do

What Concrete Repair Means at Rhino

One part of your driveway or patio has cracked through, sunk or started to crumble. We cut that section out and pour fresh concrete where it was. The rest of the slab stays put.

Our concrete repair is never a patch job. Crack filling, slab leveling, mudjacking and resurfacing are not services we offer. If one of those is what you want, another company will be a better fit.

Is It Time

Signs a Section Needs to Come Out

Not every crack needs concrete repair. All concrete cracks, and control joints are there to tell it where. A thin crack that runs along a joint is usually doing its job.

Loose, Broken Pieces

The slab has broken into pieces that rock or shift when you step or drive on them.

A Sunken or Lifted Edge

One section sits lower or higher than the one next to it and leaves a lip you can trip on. We replace it rather than jack it back up.

A Crumbling Top

The surface is flaking or breaking apart. We do not resurface, so the fix is a new section.

Tell Us What Broke

Fill out the quote form or call. Tell us roughly how big the bad area is. You hear back within 24 hours.

Axel talks the job through with you and sends a quote for the section.

Lines Get Marked

If the work involves digging, we ask NC 811 to mark public utility lines first. That takes 3 working days. Sprinkler pipes, pet fences and yard lights are private, so they do not get marked. Point them out before we start.

The Bad Section Comes Out

We cut around the damaged section and break it out. The good concrete next to it stays in place.

The Ground Gets Packed Down

Before any new concrete goes in, we compact the ground where the old section sat.

New Concrete Goes In

Fiber goes into the mix, as it does on every pour we do. We slope the new section so water runs off, where the site allows.

Good to Know

Two Things to Know Before You Ask

The new section will not be an exact color match. Fresh concrete starts out a different shade from concrete that has sat through years of sun and rain.

Projects start at $3,500. That matters most on small concrete repair jobs. If only one small piece is bad, ask about replacing a second weak spot on the same visit.

FAQ

Questions About Concrete Repair in Charlotte

Can you replace just one section of my driveway?

Yes, that is what our concrete repair service is. We take out the broken section and pour a new one in its place. The rest of your driveway is left alone. Patios work the same way.

Does your concrete repair include crack filling or leveling?

No. We do not sell crack filling or sealing as a service. We also do not mudjack, level or resurface. If a section has sunk or broken apart, we replace it with new concrete.

Why does concrete crack?

Concrete shrinks a little as it hardens, so some cracking is normal. Control joints give it a place to crack. Bigger breaks usually start in the ground underneath. Water can wash out or soften the soil under a slab, and tree roots can push up from below.

Will the new section match my old concrete?

Not exactly. You will be able to see where the new section meets the old concrete. If that would bother you, ask for a price on the full slab alongside the section price.

How long does it take to replace a section?

A section replacement usually takes one day on site, unless it runs past about 1,050 sq ft. Taking out the old concrete can add a day. If NC 811 has to mark lines first, that takes 3 working days before we start.

My concrete steps are falling apart. Can you replace them?

Yes. Steps that are crumbling or breaking apart get torn out and poured new. Tell us how many steps there are and roughly how wide.

What does concrete repair cost in Charlotte?

It depends on how big the section is and what it takes to get the old concrete out. Projects start at $3,500, so very small repairs may not be a fit. Tell Axel the rough size when he calls, and he will price it.
